Inside Outside - Self Portrait

helonconning

After graduating from my degree during lockdown, I have been working on a self portrait. i have, for a change, been hung up on the outcome. Tonight I found freedom! I am always banging on about the process being more important than the outcome, this time I found that difficult! until tonight! Tonight I realised i have been precious about my work. I endeavour to put the process first always, as this is the most meaningful part of the creative journey. This is not always the case, depending on human emotions, and situations we find ourselves in. I have found freedom with the palette knife. Since I cannot go big, anymore, the palette knife is a very expressive tool in a confined space. I now understand that I am in limbo at moment, in finishing my degree and moving forward. I think that this self portrait reflects the passing of time and existing in the now.
